Why is it that often we WAIT before bringing our needs to Jesus? Why do we hesitate? Busy schedules, our own pride, list of things that need to be done…all these things mean little to Jesus. He wants our hearts and He wants us to come to Him. Why wait? Jesus, the healer is eager to touch you and make you whole. Don’t hesitate….go to Him now!
Mark 2:1-4 (TNIV)
1 A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. 2 They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. 3 Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. 4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on.
These friends of the paralyzed man waited before bringing their friend to Jesus. The crowds had already gathered, so much so that there was no room. Why did they wait? Were they working late, or too preoccupied with what they were doing or who they were doing it with? I wonder if maybe they simply wondered if the teacher (Jesus) was for real. Maybe they were just lazy. Whatever the reason…..when they came…..they found answers!
There are so many times in my life that I have done the same thing, I have hesitated to bring my needs to Jesus. Over time, I have learned to go to Him first! Still there are times that I need to remind myself never to hesitate. Jesus will see your need and hear your heart whenever you approach Him (the best way is in prayer).
It’s interesting that the crowd made it impossible to bring the paralyzed man close to Jesus. My question is, how often, by the business in our lives do we crowd out those who are in need of Jesus’ healing touch? Is there someone in your life that obviously needs Jesus but you are too busy help them get close? If God places someone in our path that is in need…….are you so preoccupied with your own relationships and agendas that you don’t even see the need? This should never happen.
Jesus is present, He is right here, right now, and in our midst. Indeed, the kingdom of heaven, the kingdom of God is right here in our midst. We should always step aside and help make a path for those that God has led to our door that leads to the One who heals, the One who truly has the wisdom that helps us find fulfillment in life….Jesus.
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO KNOW JESUS…may your faces always reflect the Love of Jesus in your life. May your hands always be extended to greet all people as friends. May you always clear the way so that others can find what you have found in the love that Jesus has for you. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DON’T KNOW JESUS…….may you make your way through the crowd and the business of your life and may you find that His touch heals, His arms embrace you and that his heart is for you. Don’t wait…Just Do It!
