I try to live by the God code, “Always do what is right” recognizing that God can only bless that which is right. He cannot and will not bless our wrong attitudes or actions. You may find a disguised blessing in those wrong attitudes and action at times. Satan wants you on His side, so he might “bless” your anger, evil dishonesty or other attitude or action…….but rest assured that THIS blessing by Satan is surely disguised, for you will certainly pay consequences and he will be back in the corner snickering. I have often said, “I’m slow….but I’m here”. But this one takes the cake: There was this guy that lived next door and as I was cutting the grass I couldn’t help but notice him coming out three or four times, walking to the mailbox and opening it, and angrily slamming the door shut, then walking back inside. Finally, I stopped and asked him if everything was alright? He told me he was going to take his new computer back! He was fed up because every few minutes it said, “You’ve got mail”. Sometimes we see a problem in our life and it can simply be solved by applying God’s wisdom. Other times, the problem is much greater than us and requires deep prayer. I would say that in ALL cases, prayer is a good thing. It’s never a bad thing. The key is, are we relying on God in all things or are we relying on ourselves and our own abilities?

Not unlike ancient times, this generation struggles to have faith. The key, I believe to having faith is in trusting God no matter what the outcome. THAT takes a humble and surrendering heart! Hmmmmm…..I think Jesus talked about that a lot. So, why don’t we just do it? We act as if this life on earth is the be-all end-all and it’s not. There is a glorious eternity in the arms of Jesus ahead. It’s true, there is a battle going on for your heart and soul. It’s a battle that has been already one by Jesus. I wear glasses and basically have two pair. One pair is a bifocal so I can see distance as well as close up. I call these my preaching glasses because I like to see the people I am talking to when I speak. The other pair are reading glasses that are just for when I work on the computer (all day). That way I don’t have to always be stretching my neck to look through the small bifocal section used for reading. The key is……it is sooooooo important to be able to see clearly. Without my glasses I am lost (everything is a blur around me), I make mistakes (I can’t discern some things), I have a hard time understanding (because I can’t read the directions)………WHEW! Each morning when I get up, I pray in the quiet stillness of the day. I get to my office, pray again and start my day with coffee and Jesus. I spend time each morning listening to Jesus through His words and contemplation. I bask in His glory…. meaning that I relish our relationship and simply love to be with Him! The world very often seems an angry place. There is always someone getting angry about something. In Politics….today, everyone seems angry! I see many relationships, marriages as well as friendships in which it just seems apparent that both parties are looking for reasons to be angry! The truth is, God made it very apparent that “love” is at the center of our relationships. Not anger. I think it’s funny that God speaks to the disciples: Peter, James and John and says, “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!” Indeed, Love is at the center of God’s relationship with Jesus. Sometimes our zeal overshadows our reality. While in the Army I took my first job as a Squad Leader in a Decontamination Platoon at Ft. Benning, Georgia around 1986. I knew very little about the equipment my platoon and my soldiers were using. In my zeal to “direct the show”, to demonstrate that I was the Squad Leader, I could have jumped out there and acted like I knew what I was doing, indeed, I was the boss. There was a time in my life when I saw Jesus as a great historical figure. Wow, He was one smart man! His replies to opposition were always amazing!
