It is easy to get caught up in life and not take proper care of ourselves. Sometimes we approach life as if we have little time left to live. We should always be careful to balance our lives and TO take care of ourselves. Indeed, we see in the Gospels that Jesus faced this very same situation. We know that when faced with overwork He intentionally took time to pray, to be alone and to commune with the Father. I hear people say, “I can be a Christian without going to church” all the time, or some variant on the thought. It is so important to understand that our faith in following Jesus began as a group thing, not an individual thing. IN FACT, Jesus criticized the Pharisees the most (the religious leaders of the day) and their title, “Pharisees” actually means “separated ones”. Go figure! I remember when I was real little, I would be in the neighborhood playing and my momma would call me in for dinner. It’s funny how we, as people, see things differently. Some people see God as mean and angry, full of vengeance and others see God, as Jesus revealed Him…as loving, wise, kind and wanting the best for mankind.
