I often tell my wife, “Honey, I’m slow but I’m here!” <SMILE>. She often laughs and tells me, “Lights on……nobody’s home!” <SMILE>. The truth is, we often get so caught up in today that we forget yesterday and often it affects our tomorrow. I thought it was just my AAADD (age activated attention deficit disorder), then I remembered that I have been doing this all my life! Do you do the same thing? How soon we forget, huh?
Mark 8:4-5 (TNIV)
4 His disciples answered, “But where in this remote place can anyone get enough bread to feed them?” 5 “How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked. “Seven,” they replied.
It’s funny that the disciples had just recently been with Jesus and experienced the feeding of over 5000 people on just five loaves of bread and two fish, now they have a crowd of 4000 to feed and again doubt whether they can feed this large group!
Have you experienced the touch, the provision or the miracles of Jesus in your life? I have many times over the years. Over many years as well it has begun to sink in that I can trust Jesus with everything in my life, but it took me time. Over and over I would experience His touch and over and over when presented with a new “obstacle”…..I would try to rely on my own will rather than look to Him for wisdom, guidance and answers.
I may be slow, but finally I can say…”I am here”! Indeed, every time I have looked to Jesus for strength and wisdom, He has provided (though it is not always what I want to hear, LOL). Jesus has brought me through so many trials and temptations in my life. The key is…..always remembering that he will do it in the right now and in the future!
So….when will YOU finally get it? TRUST IN JESUS! Is your heart too closed to take in all that Jesus has done for you or all that He can do for you? Remember daily, with gratitude, what he has done. Practice your faith daily, by recognizing that Jesus is with you and that he will continue to be with you. If you have seen miracles in your life……..have faith that you will see them again.
I saw it said best this way, “Do you trust in your own wisdom or your own resources? Have you become self-satisfied with your organization or planning? Remember not to trust in your own strength, but in God.” Indeed……with Jesus, anything is possible!
