Itβs tough raising kids, especially in their teen years. I got a prayer request recently from a mother asking me to pray for her 17 year old daughter, “…she’s really struggling. She was saved when she was little but is currently having a hard time and questioning her Christianity. She’s being a teenager and it’s really hard to carry a conversation with her……… I see her struggling everyday with her spiritual and mental life…trying to find her way in this world.”
Mark 7:24-25 (TNIV)
24 Jesus left that place and went to the vicinity of Tyre. He entered a house and did not want anyone to know it; yet he could not keep his presence secret. 25 In fact, as soon as she heard about him, a woman whose little daughter was possessed by an evil spirit came and fell at his feet.
I cannot stress the importance of praying for our children! When we do, it’s not our children’s faith that is being measured, it’s our faith. I believe that God honors that faith. Does that mean that instantly everything becomes good? No! However, what it does mean is that OUR faith is at work through Jesus and God will answer! You may find, like this friend, that your child is “turning away” or questioning their faith. Your child may be rebellious, worldly-wise, going down the wrong path–yet it is even more important to be inconstant prayer and cover your child by faithful prayer. God moves in response to faith!
When I was young I was one of those teenagers. My mother was in constant prayer for me and had faith that I would return to my roots in the faith. I spent over ten years wandering inside. My mother told me that she always prayed for my heart, she always prayed for me and she always prayed for my spirit. I did return to my roots. I did return to the faith and I believe that much of it was because of her unwavering faith! God answered! What I have to tell you is to always continue with an unwavering faith, continue to cry out to God in faith for your children….and He will answer!
I love Jesus, and Thank You Father for the love of children! Your only Son prayed for us, and we pray in His Holy Name to You for our children, thank you so much.
Amen Al! π God bless ya my friend!
You kids never get too old to pray for. Even in adulthood they still can chose the wrong road to go on. Praying for your kids is so important, there are so many things that is thrown at them as teens. More than we were even. Where ever they go, rather it is friends, trying to get them to try drugs, sex, watch/listen to music vedeos that show so much sex that back in my teenage years it would of been rated X and never shown. They are showed or told there is no God, and their friends can get through to them better than you can. Teens need someone to always be praying for them
Thank you for sharing Sharyn π Yes, I agree, it is certainly hard now days to raise them in the way they should go with so many worldly influences! Prayer, prayer and more prayer! God bless!
